I am very sad and broken tonight to find out someone who I was very close to.... No, correction...someone I loved as a good friend died two-days ago. I honestly didnt think I would ever write this about this young man. No, actually I prayed Id never write this about this young man, Jimmy L. Thompson. Jimmy for many years was suffering from manic depression. After loosing his job and being kicked out of his home Jimmy lived from place to place and had a fond kinship to what made him feel safe, which was his old home off of 60th and Verdun and his Westchester Senior High family. Like Cancer, Diabetes, and Alzheimers and many other diseases, Manic Depression ravishes the mind and can take the spirit leaving one to feel lawless. Jimmy was very intelligent and his intellect made him quirky, and often times weird, yet very unique. I allowed him to live with me for a little over a year and we shared some really nice moments going to the observatory, the movies, and most of the time out to eat and for a little man, boy he could eat! He wanted to write a book about his trials and trivializations and he came up with his own little t-shirt business called Nuthouse, but what he loved most was gambling out at Hollywood Park Casino and the Broncos. Just know that just because you cant see mental illness like you can see physical illness its just as real and people are suffering.... they are really suffering....So just be kind to people and listen, because he was trying to reach out to people in his suffering and many turned him away because they figured he was just being weird little Jimmy. Jimmy leaves behind a beautiful daughter whom he loved very, very, very much. RIP JT. I
