I am watching Blackfish - a show about the killer whales at Sea World. As I watch I can see all the sides though they are trying to slam the trainers at Sea World. I feel it is more of the corporate leaders that should be shamed by this. There are a lot of things we do not know about the animals that are in our world. This includes those that are domesticated - those of us that work with animals recognize that there is a danger of getting hurt. Our love for all creatures drives us to interact with them in order to educate those that do not have an opportunity to show the beauty and majesty of these animals. Does this mean we should shut down those programs that educate? No, it means that those that are in power need to listen to those that are working with the animals. Watching the program it showed that we have not even scratched the surface of understanding the orcas. We do not understand and maybe will never understand the pod concept. Does this mean that I will never go to Sea World? Probably not, they do wonderful work helping sea life during crisis. One can only hope that powers that be will learn and will actually listen to those that actually work with these animals.
