I am watching RuPauls Drag Race and see these HIV commercials where guys take off their clothes to face it openly and honestly. I believe the advice is to face the virus with honesty and clarity. As someone who has lost 75 friends and acquaintances over the past three decades, it amazes me that some of these guys who are in their 30s, are testing positive when information regarding prevention has been around since the 80s. That would mean that they were kids, or teenagers when things really got out of hand. I guess its the same old denial that it cant happen to me, or if it does, Ill just take the cocktail and manage it, but I just wish that once, just once, they had to go to the hospital to sign a DNR for a good friend who had lost 50 lbs, had tubes coming out of everywhere and was wearing a diaper because their family refused to claim them, let alone care for them. I mean, how does this happen?
