I am watching this massive #PPP rally in Karachi, for which this sitting provincial government has pulled out all the stops: planned for a month or so, plastered billboards all over the city, blitz advertised on TV and in the print media across the country, paid for trains, busses and attendees, utilized all government manpower and other resources, made life difficult for citizens... And I just cannot get over how devoid of substance this whole show is, even Aitzaz Ahsans speech was... What for, what is this all for? To try to save a party that has not delivered over and over again, whose popularity is plummeting, and thats it, thats all? The party says there was mass rigging in the 2013 election, that there is massive corruption and gross misgovernance BUT this is not what this rally is not about, no mention of any such: they, the opposition want to protect democracy, not challenge the #PMLN. So, ostensibly this is not a mid-term or re-election campaign rally either. Then what is it? What for have state funds been spent in such excess? In reaction, to respond, to pay back #PTI in the same (form/at mirroring PTIs) coin? Its numbing and hurting my mind, what is in it for these people they have gathered? For so long, so many times, they could have and still could stop growing their own wealth, and building for the status quo alone, a new ostentatious Sindh assembly hall for example, frame and implement pro-poor policies -- but they havent, and wont, and now its just the same endless flacid, flatulent rhetoric... The great big void. Please tell me if you see meaning in this that Im missing. #DownWithTheStatusQuo #FreePakistan
