I am wondering if I can ask a question of the law enforcement - TopicsExpress

I am wondering if I can ask a question of the law enforcement officers who follow this page. ;) Yesterday, I posted an article that was meant to criticize our out-of-control, big government and its changed approach to crime and criminal law. Instead, I seem to have miscommunicated a lack of respect for law enforcement to at least a few people. Please know that was not my intent. I would love to know: From your perspective, why has our approach to criminal law changed in recent years? Are you okay with these changes? If not, what should citizens do to make it right again? What should law enforcement do? My thoughts: We have more criminal laws, requiring more arrests. Also, it seems that police officers are asked to arrest people more often. Situations that used to be handled with a simple citation or an order to cease and desist to avoid arrest instead degenerate into bad situations. There are more no knock raids. People are getting arrested because someone disagreed with their parenting decisions or because they fell asleep on the subway! Etc. We didnt used to do these things. And at least some of it seems inconsistent with our Constitution. From my non-law enforcement perspective, it is scary to watch the changes that are happening. And it is scary to hear the increasingly loud refrain of just comply. I would love for law enforcement to partner with us to figure out how to bring our government back within its bounds. But instead of starting this type of conversation, I sometimes seem to find myself (accidentally) insulting police officers. I dont mean to do that. I am critiquing our system, not those who put their lives on the line for us every day in an effort to keep our communities safe. I posted some of these comments to a few individuals earlier, but I decided to repost for everyone. I would love to hear the thoughts of law enforcement officers on any of this. Thanks for your time, guys. :)
