I am working on a big article discussing exactly what to look for - TopicsExpress

I am working on a big article discussing exactly what to look for (and what to avoid!) when buying your Thanksgiving Day turkey this year. But I just stumbled upon this article from the Huffington Post and had to share.... The below was taken directly from the article (dont totally freak out after reading it and think this means you need to not eat turkey---I will share what to look for when I finish my article, hopefully tomorrow!).... Turkey is one of the most frequently contaminated meats, said Ellen Silbergeld, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She highlighted a study from earlier this year that found 77 percent of turkey samples collected from U.S. supermarkets tested positive for the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Of those, approximately 96 percent were resistant to at least one antimicrobial agent. A few of other recent studies hint at the growing problem of multidrug-resistant infections, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), in meats sold to consumers, including turkey. Here is the link to the full article: huffingtonpost/2011/11/23/turkey-antibiotics-drug-resistant-infections-thanksgiving_n_1110745.html And again, please dont mean this means you should not eat turkey! You just need to know what to look for and what to avoid. Stay tuned... --ivy
