I am writing from a heart that survived - after you smashed it - TopicsExpress

I am writing from a heart that survived - after you smashed it into a thousand tiny pieces and walked away. I want to thank you. I’m sure you don’t expect a ‘thank you’ letter but you see I’ve come to learn that while we all have hearts, they aren’t all the same. We are all born with a heart that beats to keep us alive, but then we all live very different lives and give our hearts different opportunities. By choosing you, I chose to risk my heart- and it didn’t refuse the challenge. It opened up to you, let you in, honored your presence and believed your promises. Then, you left. And of course as you made your exit, it had to break into a thousand little pieces. That’s what happens. I’m not surprised. It’s called heartbreak. But you know what surprises me- survival. They say time heals and it definitely has. But it gets even better than that. Time doesn’t just heal an old heart- it makes us a promise- if we survive the difficulties, we get a new heart. We get to start all over again. No regrets, no bitterness, no hate. But just because time heals and we get new hearts doesn’t mean we forget. For if we forget, we make the same mistakes all over again. I don’t plan on doing that. I will always remember that while you couldn’t keep your word, time kept its promise. And one day time will give me someone that can keep their promise too. -I was finally strong enough to stand up for myself with the help of three amazing friends.
