I am writing this open letter to let GMA-7 realize the mistake - TopicsExpress

I am writing this open letter to let GMA-7 realize the mistake they did when 24-Oras news anchor, Mike Enriquez cut the communication with Jiggy Manicad, after several hours of not acquiring any news from Tacloban City (Yolandas first landfall). As far as I know, in situations like this, Media should be open to anything. I have been taught in school that media is a channel for communication. It is the core from which people will gather information. With the news anchors act of cutting the news for the sake of time does not give justice to its first and foremost role being a channel for communication and for disseminating information to people. I am from Tacloban City and I am an OFW. I have been trying to contact my family since 7:00 this morning (I am an hour late from the Philippines) and I only get information from the newscast. Information from the news were not enough since they were aired about 10 hours ago already and until now the line is still down in the area. Now, tell me, do you really have to cut Jiggy for the sake of time? Is that what you call fair and good newscasting? The people do not demand hours of your time, just to let Jiggy finish his report is enough! How can you give out quality informations if you just the cut the most important one? Many are waiting to hear what happened in Tacloban City because until now the line is still down and calls cannot get through, no networks working at the moment, then Jiggy got the signal which they had to walk 6 hours so they could connect and GMA did not give importance to that. I believe it was a long walk they did only to get blocked afer 2 minutes on air. Many are disappointed at your actions, GMA-7! Got this msg from Ms. Arceno. Like and Share!
