I am writing to Brunel sports clubs to tell you about a volunteering and fundraising opportunity we have which I believe your club may be interested in. On Sunday 8th September we are looking for hard-working and enthusiastic students to volunteer at our Nike+ Half Marathon Run to the Beat in return for £20 club bursary for every member they bring along. This is an event which many of your clubs have volunteered at before. The event consists of a 13.1 mile course with DJs dotted along the roadside, starting and finishing in Greenwich Park where our headline act will be based. With names in the past such as Calvin Harris, DJ Fresh, Tinie Tempah ad Annie Mac, this year’s headline act is set to be even bigger! As well as a great fun day of music and laughter this will provide invaluable experience for students in working with IMG, one of the leading companies in sports events. Plus, we are offering sports clubs bursaries of £20 per person that they provide for the event...that’s an easy £200 for just 10 people! This is a great little money earner for clubs to start the year with, especially for those club captains who have taken on debt from the previous year! Details Date: Sunday 8th September Main area and likely meeting point is in Greenwich Park Approximate timings are 6am-3pm (I can let you know exact timings nearer the event) We provide volunteers with breakfast and a hearty lunch pack, as well as chocolate, sweets and drinks through the day Volunteer roles include checking in baggage, marshalling the pens at the start, helpdesk, competitor flow, helping at the water stations, helping at the finish line with handing out medals and water etc. We tend to allocate the entire group to an area to keep them together so we will have a better idea where to put your club members when we know how many you’ll be bringing, though you can of course be positioned in a preferred location if you wish If you are keen to know more please don’t hesitate to contact me.
