I anticipated being called back to Harrisburg to take care of - TopicsExpress

I anticipated being called back to Harrisburg to take care of unfinished business. To my surprise and disappointment, I received word from the Chief Clerk’s office, canceling a crucial voting session in support of the Philadelphia School District. We are elected to serve our constituents 24/7, both in Harrisburg and in the District. I was ready to vote on this in June, ready to travel to Harrisburg in August, and am ready today, or even tonight, if called to the House floor. Since day one, I have been ready, willing, and able to enact this vital piece of legislation. Whatever leadership’s reason was for canceling session to consider House Bill 1177, I find it hard to believe it outweighs the duty of the School District of Philadelphia to provide an education to its students. I know the difficult job Philadelphia teachers have, we owe it to them to ensure they have the proper tools to provide a safe and effective learning environment. As a rank-and-file member, I have made my position clear to House leadership, and contrary to what the Governor said I’ve been here, working tirelessly throughout the district and as a former law enforcement officer, I am ready and prepared to respond at a moment’s notice.
