I apologize for being late with the summary. It has been a busy month! MPOA Board Meeting from November 12, 2013: The first 60 minutes turned into a Town Hall style meeting regarding WETAs parking policy that has infuriated homeowners on upper Spring Branch Blvd and Hollyside Drive. Many of the complaints were the same heard in August and September. Some homeowners accused our Board of letting WETA get away with not complying with MPOA guidelines/covenants; however, those homeowners could not state specifically which guidelines WETA is violating. The fact of the matter is our Board is working with the postal service, PWC police, VDOT, and Maureen Caddigans office to reduce the burden caused by WETAs policies. A Town Hall meeting regarding parking issues throughout all of Montclair is set for December 4th at the Montclair Country Club at 7pm. Getting into the tabs of the meeting the Board approved a few items that are part of the FY-15 budget: 1) Management staff will increase by one full time covenants inspector and two part-time window attendants. Speaking of the walk-up window…residents who pay for fees at the window may soon be able to use credit or debit. Our management requested First Residential to install this capability for the convenience of our residents. 2) A new three-year contract with CLS (our current landscape contractor) was approved. The contract increased by $12K, but they are performing more maintenance due to all the improvements we made along Waterway Drive. Under this new contract they will continue to replace any dying plant or tree planted by them in the past. 3) The purchase of a new truck for was approved. We received an $8K trade in for the current truck and the $35K remainder comes from the reserve account. 4) Approved Jazzie Pools to provide lifeguard services at our three beaches this summer. Our management staff spent too much time baby-sitting the last company. They promised to go a better job and bring in more mature people; however that would cost us another $12K. It was time for a change! Next the Board dealt with a few variance requests and approved a new freestanding sign for the MPOA building as recommended by the LFMC. Management reported their accomplishments over the past 30 days and briefed their priorities for the coming month. Final comments were made from each Board member and the meeting adjourned. The next MPOA BoD meeting is scheduled for December 11th at 7pm.
