I apologize for not posting lately, but I have been right out straight with juggling Tripps treatment schedule, his sisters schedules, and my schooling. Tripp has completed19 rounds! (Round 20 will be happening around noon today). Round 20 will be the last round of his brain and spine, so tomorrow we will be moving to just the brain, which will make the last 11 rounds go very quickly. Please keep your fingers crossed that we have smooth sailing from here on out, because we have hit a few bumps along the way. A little over a week ago, when the nurse was de-accessing Tripps port, she noticed a pressure sore that he accumulated that week. Due to the pressure sore, Tripp has had to get IVs everyday in order to be sedated for his radiation. He has been sent home twice (last night being one of them) with the iv left in, in hopes that he can use it the next day and not need any more pokes in his little arms. Sadly, both times the iv has failed at home by moving from his vein into the tissue surrounding it. Today, his oncologist is going to check how his port looks and hopefully she thinks its healed enough to access again! I have never been so thankful for his port in my life! Tripp has started new medications and all of those combined has allowed his nausea to stay away for the most part. He has lost a few pounds since starting radiation, which he really didnt have to lose, so we are trying the best we can to allow him to feel good enough to want to eat.
