I apologize for the long post in advance, I just need some ADVICE. So... as I said, if things didnt work out with my foster dog, Sables, adoption or her new owners other doggies, I was going to keep her. Well hes made up his mind that he doesnt want her now without even meeting her. I didnt think this would actually happen (since as soon as you see her you fall in love completely and never wanna let her go). So now I have the decision to make. Adopt her or not? I need some advice from you fellow dog people. I have four other dogs. And not sure how I would integrate her into my pack. Ive kept her separated thus far, at first just because she couldnt go near other dogs til she had 2 rounds of vaccines, but now she does and Id need to test her with my pack before I make a decision. I have had her near them individually, but not as a whole pack. See Sable is very lovable, and literally attacks other dogs with kisses. She runs to them and licks their faces, all inside their mouth, jumps on their heads trying to lick all over their bodies, which is good because shes not aggressive, but bad because some dogs dont like that. My chi/pug mix, Millie is the only one weve let her on the ground with. She would never do anything to her. But we have to pick her up and put her on furniture to keep her safe from the kiss attacks. Maya, which is the one Im worried about, is my Akita mix who is typically dog aggressive to dogs other than our own. She is fearful because she was never socialized as a young pup. I have let her see Sable, and shes not aggressive towards her, but scared of her and backs away freaked out. I am worried that if she backed away and Sable kept at it she might bite out of fear. How would I dissipate her fear for Sable? Lilah, my Aussie, is also one I have to worry about the most, because she thinks she is the police of the house and is protective over Sable. We cant even discipline our other dogs without her attacking them thinking she has to butt in. She went for Millie when Millie got near Sable. Her pupils get dilated and she acts really weird. Sadie, my Border Collie mix will growl at her but wouldnt do anything to her. The problem is, if Sadie growls, Lilah attacks her. Millie and Sadie are old ladies at 11 and 10 yrs. Lilah is about 3, and Maya is 1 or 2. Where would you suggest, if you even suggest, is a good place to start? And this is Sable finding out why her adopter didnt want her. She had too much brindle in her. Really?
