I applause the Mayor and his efforts...homeless is now at epidemic proportions...we ignored the problem and now have bums all over Waikiki...we have families in cars in Kaimuki, Kaneohe, Haleiwa etc...I agree we have to make it uncomfortable to stay too long in one spot and they must be moved all the time so their only recourse is shelters...and this is where I disagree with the Mayor...we need more safe and clean shelters and not housing...housing comes later...if we start paying for housing we will open the flood gates for more people to come to Hawaii to live and get free housing...The island of Oahu is basically a resort and what person who lives on the mainland or far places who read that we are providing food, clothing, and now housing will not come to paradise for a freebie...we need to take back control or lose it forever because homelessness will not stop, only grow and if we dont control it going forward, every resident of Honolulu quality of life will be altered and impacted for the worst...
