I applied late, but I got a job first... It was some minutes past 11:00 pm, barely an hour to the closure of applications for the 2014 Center for Technology Innovation (CTI) software engineering scholarships which was to close at 12:00am the next day when my internet connectivity started messing up. I was so tensed and anxious but, what kept echoing in my memory was the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) saying that Whatever is meant for you will never pass you.... It was already late, and the Cafe around me had closed. I kept trying with different service providers till I had a breakthrough around 15 minutes to 12.00am. Then another problem occurred, the message box had a limitation which I was not aware of. At this point I thought I was being jinxed or something similar. I recalled that a friend who applied earlier had hinted me of this problem but, he told me it was a 500 word limitation. Later, I discovered that only one of the message (response) box had a limitation of 500 words while others had a limitation of 200 characters (not words), so I needed to edit some responses in my application. Quickly I opened a new word document to edit. As I edited, I kept staring at the clock restlessly. I finished editing with less than 5 minutes to the closure of the application. I also had to attach some documents which I did. Finally, I clicked on submit and the page started loading sluggishly. I kept gazing at the clock, at 11:59pm it gave me a response to proof read and acknowledge my application. Read wetin? At 11:59pm! I murmured to myself. Hence, clicked on submit right away and I got a feedback stating Your application has been submitted. Thank you for applying for CTI... blah blah... Then immediately, I clicked back on my browser to go back and read what I actually submitted. The page reloaded and displayed the response Sorry, Applications for CTI scholarships has closed I looked at the clock again and it was exactly 12:00am the next day. Subhanallah! I must have submitted that application a few seconds to the 12:00am (deadline). Alhamdulillah I murmured. I couldnt hold back my joy, Allah was truly merciful to me. So, what happened when I was called for interview? To be continued in sha Allah... An interview I would never forget!
