I appreciate peoples support re: my job. I am fine and I will continue to be fine. For six months, save the several weeks when we had a Director of Nursing, I have not had an aide. Ive been told we (I) need to suck it up and work together, new aides are being hired, and insert similar excuse here. The aides never made it to my unit because they quit first. I have decided that it is outside of my ethical comfort zone to work at a place I would not allow my mother to be a patient at. Each patient is someones mother or father, daughter or son. When your facility is one of the most expensive ones in the city and you staff the acute care hall with one nurse, patient care is obviously not a priority. And thats not ok with me. I cant change them, but I can change me.
