I appreciate the RBLs attempt to make WWI more relevant to our generation but I am extremely disappointed with their choices when re-recording The Green Fields of France with Joss Stone. This is a Scottish folk song written by Eric Bogle in 1976. It is roughly 4:30 long. For the sake of 30s the most important verse of the song has been cut. And I cant help but wonder, no Willie McBride, Do all those who lie here know why they died? Did you really believe them when they told you The Cause? Did you really believe that this war would end wars? Well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame The killing, the dying, it was all done in vain, For Willie McBride, it all happened again, And again, and again, and again, and again. Here is a much better version, true to the original and not reeking of the glorification of war which the RBL seem to keep pushing. https://youtube/watch?v=L_G4eq9Fudc
