I asked Google Translate to show me I went to the sea. in Spanish - TopicsExpress

I asked Google Translate to show me I went to the sea. in Spanish and it gave me, Fui al mar. The term al is kind of a contraction of a el, which means to the, using the male version of the article the. In Spanish, all objects have gender. I then asked for I went to the stormy sea. and it gave me, Fui a la mar tormentoso. There are three things about this that pleased or amused me. 1) It moved the adjective stormy (tormentoso) from before the noun, as we do it, to after the noun, as its done in Spanish. Well done. It didnt just replace terms, it fixed the grammar. 2) In Spanish, the sea is a male noun when the sea is calm, and female when its stormy. This amuses me. 3) Google noticed I used the adjective stormy, and used that context to choose the right gender for the sea. Impressive. Most impressive. Fun with language. :)
