I asked my Inlaw if I can share this real event because it was very personal and happened to her, shes ok with it. Ill try my best to word out word for word as her husband explains it over again to me. On 2003, 18th of March in St. Paul Minnesota. My Inlaws are real hard working people just like all Hmong elders. They live in St. Paul but travels 2 hours to work in Whitehall Wisconsin, night until morning. On the date mentioned above, they left home earlier than usual due to business being slow. They both started driving back at 11:40 PM exact, per the husband. Old folks would tell you not to stare too much into the woods when driving because when you see a ghost, the ghost will follow you. Tired and sleepy already, he drove a little under the speed limit which was 45 MPH. Going through the woods slowly, my inlaw, she was complaining about leaving early. Complaining and looking into the darkness of the woods. He remained calm and kept on driving. After a total of 4 hour drive, back and forth, they finally made it home. He got out of the car and closed his door, she also shut her door aswell. While walking to their door step, he could hear her dragging her feet. He opened the front door and headed straight to bed. He then yelled at her to close the door. Proceeding to take off his shoes, he doesnt hear her behind him anymore. So, he yells at her again to shut the door. Hearing no response back, it angered him and so he turned around anticipating on yelling at her again. He turned around and notices he was by himself. So, that scared him and yes, he felt all his arm hairs sticking up. Mind you, they are in their mid 40. That moment when he notices it wasnt my inlaw, he started cursing at the ghost and began chanting a ritual song. After completing the ritual song, he went outside to check on my inlaw. She was still in the car. Sitting on the passenger side with a smile and her eyes wide open. He knew something was wrong but he didnt want believe it. He got her out of the car, still, she was smiling and looking at him straight in his eyes. Avoiding eye contact and trying not to panic, they got inside the house. Because they have a couple of younger kids on the first level of the house, he wasnt going to risk their safety because of whats going on. So, he brought her to the basement. He quickly covered the floor with blankets and pillows so they can sleep. They both laye to sleep. He stayed his distance from her. He pretended to sleep by not making a single noise besides breathing. He can hear her licking her lips and talking to someone who wasnt there. Scared and terrified, he got up and starting chanting while looking right at her. In the middle of his chant, she growls at him telling him that shes hungry with a smile on her face. She slowly reaches out to him, grabbing his arms, repeating Im hungry. He shoves her arm away as quick as possible. Still, his chant did nothing. At that point, she got up and walked to the corner, smiling and laughing. Once she reached the wall corner, she turned around and began to growl at him. She paused and warned him that she will eat him if he chants again. Out of ideas, he called for the ancestors to help him. He said that the ancestors chased away the evil spirit away from her body. She returned back to her old self but does not recollect this event. They both eventually quit their jobs due to this horrific event.
