I assume that most of us already have a copy of the constitution. - TopicsExpress

I assume that most of us already have a copy of the constitution. I know personally I have 50 or more of the small pocket sized constitutions. Those I had out at RTI events. Sometimes at my job I will be given a very mundane job of watching a machine run and the only duty I really have is to fix it when it jambs up. Believe you me it can get pretty boring sitting on a 5 gallon pail and staring at the wall. Recently I downloaded and printed of a full sized copy of the constitution to read when I am babysitting a machine at work. My boss affords me this luxury, normally sitting and reading at work is frowned upon but my boss is a conservative guy so he lets it slide. But anyway, I spent a good 30 hours during this work week studying the constitution. I carry a highlighter and a pen to take notes and jot down my thoughts. If there is a word that I don’t understand (there are a few) I yank out my thesaurus and look it up. My inspiration behind doing this was this: over the weekend I had a conversation/debate about rights with my buddy’s girlfriend. Twenty minutes into the conversation she revealed that she was a teacher at a private “liberal progressive high school” which I may add, I didn’t even know such a foolish thing existed. To say the least I got my ass handed to me in this debate. I realized that I know the basics and the bill of rights but really most of what I know is what other people have told me. I promised to myself that I was going to get my nose in that thing and learn it inside and out. Thus far I think I am getting a better understanding of the document and I am enjoying the learning but more than anything I am getting mad. For me personally as I start getting down deep into this thing I am coming to a new understanding of just how far we have strayed from what the founding fathers intended and how much their ideals have been polluted by progressivism and greed. I am confident that most of you are way ahead of me on that realization but I thought I would share my thoughts anyway. I have included a link to a downloadable pdf of the constitution for anyone that would like to join me in the quest of understanding of the document. We all swore an oath to defend the constitution. We can’t defend it fully if we don’t understand it fully. Tom M
