I attempted to post this to the page of Teghtmeyers Ace Hardwares page but it did not appear-perhaps as I am not their friend and havent liked them-for obvious reasons. Yesterday I went into your store to buy four 12X1.50 flat-head socket head cap screws. A woman and older man accosted me in the hardware aisle. The man immediately began demanding that I use the measuring tool he pointed out and made me feel as though he was berating me and insulting me. I left without making a purchase and as I was walking out, turned around and asked the young woman at the checkout if there was a member of management present as I had a comment. She pointed to the Service Desk and said no, but there would be someone available Monday. I told her an unfriendly person had caused me to not want to buy from your store. Sadly, I then went to Wal-Mart and had a pleasant customer service experience-I say this as it is common to hear that customers should patronize their local Mom & pop store rather than Wal-Mart, but in this instance, Wal-Mart provided a better customer service experience. I spent nine years in college becoming an engineer. I am fully capable of determining the fasteners I need, but this man was so demanding and irritating that I will wait until Monday and make my purchase at Fastenal-regardless of the price! I also needed some more common fasteners and called J R Ford at the hardware store in Churubusco and later made my purchase there. I run a retail business and I cannot afford to lose even a single customer. I strongly suggest that you consider instructing your employees to allow customers to shop before badgering them. FWIW-I always feel uncomfortable in your store as I feel the employees are looking over my shoulder for some reason. As there are other vendors for the products you sell, I will patronize them in the future as I do not wish to feel the way your staff makes me feel when in your store. P. T.
