I attended a community meeting this morning (as mentioned at the last WKCP) regarding the East Side Redevelopment project. While I agree that it is needful to reduce crime in that area, and to help folks revive the neighborhood, yet alarm bells were running through my mind and flags were down on the field. Indications are that the convoluted grant funding and organizing of this is an extension of United Nations Agenda 21 here at work in river city. The outside consulting group was here with their facilitators to help partner with us well-meaning, good-intentioned folks in reviving the East Side to reach sustainability and many other buzz-words and acronyms. I heard things like we have a right to fresh food whether we grow it, buy it or are given it. After school is over, our children are abandoned and need a community center [since family, church, scouting, 4H, etc. dont exist?]. They posited that business-residential rental combos were an aim - which have much value, they claim. Children will need to walk or ride bikes to school. But have no fear, the government Zoning Board will be critical in this top-down neighborhood association. Of course, all the government agencies, such as the police, library, etc and of course the key non-profits will get their own new facility building in the revived sustainable neighborhood. So the group holding millions of other peoples confiscated wealth via federal taxes, will buy up land in East-side, and establish zoning, set new rules - and make you think you are a driving part of it. That is my skeptical perception. At this point, I am uncertain, but very wary about what this will mean and who is driving it. Be-aware. Here is a website which I am going to research, and I hope you might, too. Sincerely, Dean Spooner, Henderson, KY postsustainabilityinstitute.org/
