I attended a party tonight that’s an annual thing from my wife and the friends with whom she attended Summit New Jersey High School. There being a couple of guitar enthusiasts in the group, live music is always part of this get together. Usually, it’s Beatles music with everyone joining in on the vocals. It can sound a little off half the time, but the other half is quite remarkable with equal parts of poignancy and joy. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone having a party or, at least, to some of the other Baby Boomers out there. Riding the train back to New York City and our borrowed apartment at 105th and Central Park West, I was thinking about the assassination of John Lennon and the fact that it happened just a few blocks south of our apartment. It occurred to me that I ought to select a Beatles oriented song, as my musical selection of the week. I also wanted to pick one that was very much John Lennon and “I Call Your Name” is what I arrived at. It’s not one you hear a lot about and that puts it right in the type of music I’ve been trying for my weekly posts. This was on the Beatles 1964 American release, “The Beatles Second Album.” It also contains some extremely tasty George Harrison guitar work! https://youtube/watch?v=pkAaky91zBU
