I attended the MCC/JOC course in October 2014 and I have divided - TopicsExpress

I attended the MCC/JOC course in October 2014 and I have divided my testimonial into three sections set out below. Admin: I sent out several emails to different MCC/JOC providers to enquire about their courses. Despite being one of the last that I wrote to, Simtech were the first to reply! This punctual response turned out to be a common theme throughout the course. The course manager was very friendly and was not only extremely prompt, but was more than willing to try and cater for my personal circumstances. One other major advantage of Simtech is the accommodation that’s provided. A comfortable hotel room was provided, with a discounted breakfast to Simtech students. Reasonably priced dinners and a regularly run shuttle bus was also provided from the hotel. Instruction: The instruction was very good. I was pleased with the wealth of experience and teaching ability of all of the instructors. They all seemed to be either current or ex, senior captains within the airlines, and provided the perfect balance between being assertive and approachable, this made for a very enjoyable and informative learning environment. Another very good aspect of the course was that, whilst you obviously have to follow the syllabus of the MCC/JOC course, all of the instructors were very aware that your next step will be an interview and simulator assessment, so the instructors would try to gear the simulator lessons in that direction as much as possible. You’re also hand flying for the majority of the course which is perfect preparation for an assessment. I also found that all of my instructors were giving tips and advice on technical interview questions and CV writing, which was especially useful as a lot of them have been involved in airline recruitment in one way or another. If I had any problems understanding anything, or asked for advice on something, they were all more than willing to help; this I think counts for a lot! Simulator: Whilst researching different MCC/JOC providers from across Europe, I found that pretty much all of them stated that they had ‘the perfect platform for a transition from a light twin to a jet aircraft’! From my experience, I genuinely think that Simtech do! The simulator was essentially laid out like a 737 cockpit, but it had some of the systems omitted to make it a bit more manageable for someone that hasn’t flown a jet before. More importantly, the simulator handles exactly like a 737 would, so you have to fly at the correct speed and attitudes etc. One final thing that I will say is that I have never written a testimonial before. The reason I decided to write one for Simtech is because I was, quite simply, that impressed by the standard of the whole operation.
