I became friends with Phil Pechonis in a funny way. His 5 year old son, Maximilian, hated to go to childcare, so I would lure him in with talk of dinosaurs and gummy bears. It was the summer between his familys move from Russia to England, and he and his amazing wife Meg spent an afternoon with me talking about how to walk by faith and the ways God was guiding their lives. 9 years later, I helped my sister lead a team to Creation Fest, where I encountered the Phil Pechonis of the Fest. He was dynamic, energetic, changed plans 100 times, was sometimes frustrating to work with, and overall unforgettable. For the last five years, Jesus has brought me back again and again to Creation Fest. Ive served in various ways, and grown to love the people of England and the man who had such a great vision to reach them. Last year, Phil put me in a position of great responsibility. One day, when I asked him why, he shared that the Lord had specifically given him my name for this, and encouraged me to listen to the Lord. And in my life, this will be Phils legacy. For all his quirks and humor, and the days when we just wanted him to give us an answer....he listened to the Lord. I have lived through the roller coaster of hope and emotion for several friends who have gone home too early. The questions never change, and the pain always pulls deep. I am in the UK now, preparing for Creation Fest 14, trusting on this promise from Revelation 7:17: My God is in the midst of us He has promised to shepherd us And guide us to springs of living water He will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Please continue to pray for Meg, Maximilian, Zachary, Katie Love, and Alex.
