I began looking at organic forms for inspiration with my concept, - TopicsExpress

I began looking at organic forms for inspiration with my concept, in this early rendering I experiment with how the form of the product influences the way in which the bottles will be stored within it. The way in which a sea shell curls back on itself for example. I also experimented with different body shapes. In this concept the top of the steriliser can be removed for access to the baby bottles. They boiling compartment is located within the body. From here the steam rises in and around the bottles ensuring that the steam is dispersed evenly throughout the steam chamber. This will be one of the critical features inherent within the final concept, as any un exposed areas of the bottle could retain bacteria if not sterilized correctly. Looking at how steam might flow through a concept will also inherently affect the composition of the steriliser. In this early conceptual drawing of the BBY steriliser, we see how the boiling compartment is flattened out to cover the entire area of the steaming compartment floor. Because there is a larger surface area within the boiling compartment, this will equate to a larger volume of steam rising up through the steaming compartments floor. The first component I would go on to design would be the baby bottle stand. It was essential for the design of an efficient product that this stand assisted the steam in reaching the entire baby bottles surface. I used a nozzle extruding out from the bottom of the stand to ensure that steam reached the interior of the bottle. Here the baby bottle stand is depicted with four bottles on it. Injection moulded from polypropylene #5. The red highlights on this drawing represent the nozzle features contained within the stand. It is through here that the steam is vented into the interior of the baby bottles. The logo development actually took me quite some time to do as I found it hard to visualise what type of logo would best suit the concept. I had decided to call the final concept BBY, and it was this that initially drove the logo design through creative lettering. On my second attempt at establishing a logo I began trying out different formats to spell out baby or BBY, the blue and grey BY logo began to interest me. Playing around with this creative lettering I persisted to try and find a suitable medium between the lettering of the name of the product and its actual purpose or shape, through experimentation of the BBY format I couldn’t seem to develop anything that interested me personally. Upon thinking more about the relationship between mother and child I attempted to incorporate a loving symbol into the lettering. This heart shape interested me in how it drastically altered the logo After some development I came to put two forms within the heart shape, initially these where supposed to represent the letter B standing side by side, however upon closer examination I found that there seemed to be two forms within the heart. Fittingly I perceived these to be mother and child. I found this symbolism sufficient for my logo.
