I begin my day today in shame, horror and disgust at the Australian parliament for passing the Immigration Bill and the Australian people for allowing it to happen. Australia and Australians can no longer claim to be civilised, for civilisation is measured by the way we treat the most vulnerable in our society. The Bill is a disgrace; a blot on Australia’s already diminishing good name To those of my friends who I think probably voted for this federal government I truly do not know what to say to you. I wonder how you feel today. Are you proud? Are you happy? I know you wont tell me but I would really like to know, because I am neither. I am quite literally crying.
