I believe I can fix the Anarchist-Marxist split with a new philosophical framework. Both Marx and Bakunin had different philosophical bases that are both accurate in some ways but wholly inaccurate in others. To Bakunin, human nature was seen in the natural way humans interacted in primitive societies. they congregate, and collectively help one another, while also maintaining their own freedom and liberty. For Bakunin this nature is fixed and can only be corrupted by the unnatural elements of society, which are the authoritarian laws that restrict mans natural liberty. To Bakunin all our thoughts, wishes, and actions were guided by natural laws. For Marx, who developed much of his philosophy from Hegel, he rejected Bakunins enlightenment notions of man as a Natural animal, and thus rejected his notions of freedom and liberty. To him, man was constantly changing his nature in order to reach some more rational state. Now, I see that both of these men had great points to make, but both are flawed. Humankinds nature is no fixed, and can be changed individually or collectively. But contrary to Marxs ideas, we ARE guided by natural laws. Our thoughts and actions are not always rational or planned out, sometimes we do things simply because they are natural and we rationalize it after the face. (I just got this urge to get up and get a snack, so I must have realized I was hungry and planned to do that) If we can form a new philosophical base, we may be able to solve this divide.
