I believe its time that trade unions do something structurally to become more inclusive.I want to extend the RMT full time executive to include reserved seats for women ,Ethnic minorities ,LGBT and disabled people.I believe that other unions have such structures in place.I also want our union to facilitate women getting involved at grass roots level .Unfortunately in the society that exists today women in general have the bulk of caring responsibilities,would crèches help improve women attending branches and other meetings?Having talked to some women reps they believe that every workplace should have a womens representative ,this would help engage women at a grass roots level where they would gain experience and confidence,it sounds good to me.What do others think ?
