I believe that it is unfortunate that Pastors are the best candidates the churches can provide for political offices. It is an indictment on the failure of the Christian religious institutions that a religion that has existed in Nigeria for over 100 years can not produce Christian men and women without religious offices as our representatives in the political sphere. THE CHURCHES ARE ALREADY DIVIDED ALONG DOCTRINAL LINES AS IT IS WITHOUT FURTHER DIVIDING US ALONG POLITICAL LINES. Pastor Bakare (who I love dearly), isnt the first pastor to run for political office, And sadly, now that this MISTAKE is entrenched, Pastor Osinbajo may not be the last. I will rather Nigerians vote for a man they can question, and correct, than an MOG that is allegedly answerable only to GOD, And if our pastors are retracting their famed position,(and are now saying MOGs are answerable to the people they lead), they sure have a questionable way of showing it;(theyll have to concede to that at least). Note: I have not criticised our spiritual leaders anymore than Nathan criticised David,Paul criticised Peter, and Martin Luther criticised the Catholic Church; But if these Pastors are still committed to winning souls into the Kingdom of GOD despite all the distractions theyve brought on themselves, I can only be delighted about such news. RELIGIOUS CLERICS ARE BAD FOR ANY NATIONS DEMOCRATIC PROCESS; they often cant separate their spiritual persuasions from anything else they do,(this isnt necessarily good).
