I believe that something like what is described here is true. I believe in the continuation of consciousness in some fashion. Heres my concern with this though; it creates what Ill call the Reset Button Option. The Reset Button Option is, if everything is super and wonderful and great on the other side, and if life gets too tough on this side, why not commit suicide and hit the reset button? If there is no judgement, punishment, or damnation -- whats prevents us from doing these things to ourselves and others? Its a damn good question that is not easy to resolve. The old answers are easy; Because God will judge you and punish you. Doesnt really hold water though, not really. If we look to nature we see numerous examples of parents eating their young, of the weak being shunned from the group, of brutal battles to the death. So, what about us humans? What draws the line for us? Honestly, I dont have an answer. All I can say is that no one REALLY knows what happens after this life. Either scenario could be the case. For me, Ill stay with what I know and what is happening now. What I know is that, even with all the ups and downs, this thing called life is a miracle and I am delighted to live it for all its worth. I also know that, even in extreme cases, ones I have actually experienced and others I can only imagine (thank God), I would not feel good about taking the life of another. Even in a situation of Its either me or them I would feel quite horrible to kill rather than be killed; it would change me. So, unless there is simply no other option available and the situation is extremely volatile, I am not taking the life of another. If there is no special reward nor harsh punishment, I am only left with the age old wisdom of the mystics which says that love and kindness are their own reward; hatred and brutality their own punishment.
