I believe that the wide-grip chin behind neck exercise should be performed in almost every back workout. It is simply one of the best overall back exercises. Some bodybuilders use it exclusively as their only back exercise. To my mind, the chins are superior to wide-grip pulldowns. Virtually every top bodybuilder I know performs wide-grip chins. One frequently used back exercise that the champions rely on for building muscle mass is the bent-over barbell row. Since the torso is bent over at a right angle to the floor as the barbell is lifted, there is a possibility of incurring an injury in the lower back if caution isn’t used. Many weight trainers have damaged muscles or thrown out their backs by performing the bent-over row exercise with sloppy style or with too much weight. Robert Kennedy
