I believe that this week will see an increase in the level of anti independence propaganda. We are hearing about banks moving to England. This is mearly where the Head Office will be, outwith the brass plaque on the wall, the location of the Head Office will make very little difference. Even the banks admit this, but the banks moving to England is a powerful headline. If anything demonstrates the depth of the nonsense of propaganda around the banks, it is the news that in the event if an independent Scotland, Lloyds will move their head office to London, from where it is just now, which is.......London. As for stores like ASDA or Next, the language that has been used includes phrases like variations in prices. Note that they never said become more expensive. In fact, last week, Tesco said that independence may result in lower prices. But are we seriously to believe that retailers within a global market, delivering across the World, Europe and the current UK, are suddenly going to see a spike in prices due to Scotlands independence. Price variations wont happen by default, they will happen through changes to things such as VAT and corporation tax. These are taxes that an independent Scotland can lower, and prices could lower as a result.
