I believe the STAND-YOUR_GROUND law is a major reason the black boy was murdered.. To my ears it sounds like zimmerman got off the hook by playing the self defense card; but from trevons actions steming from trevons own self defense (even if trevon attacked first; it was apparently because zimmerman was after him in the first place, and this is a commoin consequence of chasing someone down).. Im not happy that self defense got zimmerman completely off the hook, since Zimmerman stalked the kid, and the kid must have known he was being followed, and retaliated to a perceived threat.. So the murdered boy was fighting in self defense (IMHO).. Zimmerman had some training in law, so Im sure he understood the stand your ground law. In zimmermans defense, he was trying to make a difference in a neighborhood with a lot of crime.. Probably got more than he bargained for chasing trevon down.. NON POLICE OFFICERS should not be in a position of chasing someone down with a gun.. Yes 911 operator told him not to chase trevon.. But the 911 operator also asked if zimmerman could see where he was going (which was like telling zimmerman to follow trevon).. Not murder one.. But surely something like manslaughter would be appropriate, if only to not encourage vigilantes everywhere that its OK to shoot people. I dont think there is any way for us to know beyond a reasonable doubt though, except the system setup where a non-cop with a gun ends up chasing someone, is simply asking for more senseless killings to happen..
