I believe there are problems with an unsecured border. Aside from any humanitarian reasons for admission, we seem to have exposed our country to the uncontrolled admission of serious diseases, gang members from Central American (MS-13, from El Salvador), and (I claim) radical terrorists. Rather than debate my personal opinions regarding this matter, may I suggest two possible ways to control the entrance of persons into the US from our border with Mexico. First, find an endangered species of plant or animal in the border region, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service could erect 8-foot high fences to protect it as they intend to do in New Mexico. Second, the border states could grant a minimal 100 wide strip of land extending along the entire length of the border to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) since they, also, have fencing that has been used to round up cattle in Nevada.
