I believe there is an increase in animal abuse. We need to bring - TopicsExpress

I believe there is an increase in animal abuse. We need to bring these people into our justice system , we need people to report these acts to the authorities. This is just one of the many calls we have received over the pass number of months , every day we receive several calls of lost , abandon and abused animals. This is her story . This week on a trip into edson, our truck had a breakdown so we were stuck sitting on the highway waiting for help to come. After being there for about 20minutes my husband our two kids and myself, heard the loudest cries coming from the bush that bordered the highway. Right away we recognized it as the cry of a kitten and we started calling out to it and my husband went into the bush to find it. A few minutes later he came out of the bush and I could see he was carrying this kitten not much older then 8 weeks or so. I asked if it was ok, and judging from his tone I knew somethings was wrong. As he set the kitten down, he started purring as soon as we started talking to it, rubbing against our legs as if almost over come with joy he was found. Then right away we noticed the most terrible thing I have personally ever seen. The kitten had no hair or skin on his behind. It almost looked like he was scalped and his tail was torn where it should connect to his bum. You could clearly see it was infected, he was thirsty and hungry, and the loud cries we had heard from the bush, had now turned to a tiny sickly cry. It was almost like the kitten had heard our voices and used everything he had to let out the loudest cries. Almost to say im here, help me!! You could see by the wound that he had been out there a couple days. My husband made a little dish for him from a bottle and we gave him some water, and he lapped it up quickly. We continued to give our new friend TLC as we waited for our ride to come. We took him home with us. The next day I took him into the vet to receive the desperate medical attention he needed. He is on antibiotics now, and we are hoping the infection will clear, and as advised by the vet he will have to have his tail amputated. He is a strong little guy and did not deserve what happened to him. Was he thrown from a car cause someone decided they didn’t want him anymore, like a piece of garbage? It is heartbreaking and cruel. If we had not found Bandit (the name we gave him since we were on the way to Edson to retrieve our stolen quad when we broke down) I would imagine that he would have either been killed on the highway perhaps trying to cross, or died slowly from his injuries. Kittens being found injured on the highway has to stop..
