I believe we all evolved from common ancestors in Africa, millions - TopicsExpress

I believe we all evolved from common ancestors in Africa, millions of years ago, and tens of thousands of years ago, went our separate ways. This is great. Such belief is often used to put out racial fires and equalize us all. BUT What if science one day finds evidence to say that we evolved separately? My line of thought is this: some people on this planet can just barely tolerate people of a skin colour not their own, because they have been told we are all from the same origin, and it gives them the slightest feeling of guilt. If science does make such a revelation, does this mean people will be able to once again justify ethnic wars? Will we humans be able to safely handle such information?? DOES IT EVEN REALLY MATTER?!?!?! Why cant we, with our ability to empathize, just put aside any hang-up about human origin and realize that all people, no matter WHERE they come from, need the same basic requirements for a happy, healthy life; that we all are emotionally attached to our friends and family; that we all feel pain, as well as joy, fright, hunger, love, and all the various other forms of Feeling; and that we are all born and die in the same manner? Does it REALLY matter where the first humans in your lineage came from? Is that REALLY the only reason you can feel compassion for another human? Just my coffee filled musings at the moment. :)
