I bet, the worse moment to be a Chavakalian Form 1 or 2 was Friday evening till Saturday at this time. Infact, many Form Ones quit school because of this period. After the Friday evening preps, we went to the dormitory and had a Dorm meeting. The meeting started at around 10pm and at most times lasted 2hrs. The 2hrs would be torturous as the senior members of the dorm would come face to face with those who failed to perform their cleaning duties during the week. After the meeting, all Form Ones were to fetch for a basin of water that would be used for cleaning the following morning. It was hectic because you can imagine going to line up for water past midnight and worse still meeting form ones and twos from other dormitories. What time would you sleep? Form twos meanwhile were to slash around the dorm at this time(past midnight). Once through, they would be cleared to go and sleep. The sleep didnt last long as every dorm had its agreed time to wake up and clean their houses. Some were woken up at 3am others at 4am others even 2am. Upon waking up, all form ones were to fetch 10 more basins of water each for cleaning the dorm. When you bring a basin, the assistant dorm captain would tick against your name. The dorm should not be clean before you hit your 10th basin. Others were taken to the loos -kukoroga kituo(to clean the toilet bowls) Form twos were to still slash the compound (at that time) while form threes were the ones scrubbing the floor in the dorm. Meanwhile, some form fours would go to class, others would opt to sleep! By the time you go for breakfast(tea and a quarter loaf of bread) at around 8am, your back would be demanding for a full loaf of bread!
