I bit the bullet and went to Reeses ARD today. It was every bit the time suck I expected it to be. Mrs. Schneider, we seem to be at an impass. Hmmm, no...not at all considering I told them two weeks ago that I am withdrawing her. So I turned lemons into lemonade, using the opportunity to soapbox for a bit. I told them that they are woefully under prepared for what is coming down the line - currently 54% of American children have a chronic illness or disability, and an MIT researcher expects that 1 in 2 children will have an autism spectrum diagnosis by 2025. I added that Reeses hearing loss disorder is not genetic, but epigenetic, as are so many disorders cropping up in children as genes collide with this increasingly toxic environment. They are doing a disservice to children by shifting responsibility around to those who profit by giving their expert opinion which does little to address any underlying problems, and by outright ignoring parental input (you know, the REAL expert opinion). So, now Reese and I are setting out for our adventures in homeschooling. Wish us luck!
