I bought Monsieur as an investment horse with a partner for $10,000 when he was 5 years old. For two years I tried to sell him but nobody liked him much. After the two years I asked my partner if I could keep him through the 1992 Olympics. He said yes and the rest is history. Of course I was obligated to sell him after the Olympics, but at that point Monsieur had decided I was his person and he wouldnt work for anybody else. Never even got an offer on him. At 16 years old Joel helped me buy my partner out, so I could keep him forever. In 1997, when he was 17 years old he won USDF Grand Prix Horse of the Year for the second time and I decided to write a tribute to him. This story was published in Dressage Today and won an award for best personal article. I have enclosed the link to it. He was a very special horse in many ways and I believe he was meant to be mine. dressageretreats/files/To_Monsieur_with_Love.pdf
