I bought a bottle of Tatonka Dust largely because a lot of people on this page rave about it. I spend more annually on BBQ rubs than many small countries spend on grain, so I didnt hesitate to give it a shot. My question is, what is it supposed to taste like? I couldnt tell it was on there. I generally test a new rub with a light dusting of the most appropriate meat, in this case it was steak (beef), because most of the posts about it are on a cut of beef. Its possible I went too light. Or didnt let it absorb long enough (about 30 minutes). If I had to describe the flavor I got, Id say it somewhat enhanced the natural flavor and maybe added some char flavor. Other than that, Im not quite sure. And that may be exactly the intent of the rub. Should this be applied more liberally? Or is this the flavor profile Im looking for? I did it the same way I have hundreds of others, but they are more Kansas City in nature. This being a unique rub, its possible I didnt realize its full potential.
