I bought these two 22 original Istanbul K Zildjians in 1984 when Gretsch unearthed a stock of unused original Istanbul Ks from their vault. Im guessing they were made in the 1960s. I had them in my office at Zildjian Company for years and Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Peter Erskine, Steve Gadd, Brian Blade, Adam Nussbaum, Bill Stewart, Dave Mattacks, Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Kenny Washington, Ronald Bruner, John Blackwell and many others checked them out at one time or another. They were amongst the reference cymbals for developing the original K Constantinople line introduced in 1998, as well as later models. One is stamped Medium underneath and the other is stamped Thin. Both have the K. Zildjian Istanbul stamp on top. Whats interesting is, the Thin cymbal is higher in pitch than the Medium... Ill post a recording at some point.
