I bought this coin changer back in the 80s for $1.00. Packed it away and every so often while looking for something else I would see it, pack it back away again. Tonight I was boxing up things again, a fun Saturday night, lol, and thought maybe I could get more info on this than what I already think I know. It is a 1921 high speed changer with J L Galef, New York Sole Distributor stamped on it. Also Mc Gill high speed changer, also has three patent dates, Mar.14, 1916, May 15, 1917 and July 26, 1921. I have looked up pictures of it but have not seen any with the taller chamber The lower slots take nickles, dimes and quarters so I am assuming the taller was for bus tokens. Does anyone know when tokens werent used anymore? Sorry, but have never tried to shine it up, just packed it away and it s like it is the day I bought it . I put this on Vintage site also. Still wondering what the tall chamber was exactly for. A token of some sort , a penny is too big. . ..
