I built an electric Honda Civic in 1993 -started with a 1976 Civic coupe a used 28 hp Prestolite series wound brush motor from a Forklift ; a lightened Honda flywheel and Browning taper split chuck adapter to interface the flywheel with the electric motor stand Honda clutch /pressure plates ;a Curtis 400 amp square ware variable speed control ;16 t-105 Trojan deep cycle batteries ;angle iron to build the battery boxes ;many feet of 00 gage welding cable ;500 amp ammeter/shunts and 250 volt voltmeter and lots of time . If I could have had the Lithium battery packs described in this article , the car would still be on the road . Maximum range was 45 miles -freeway speeds of up to 60 MPH . I would build another in a second if I had this lithium technology at affordable cost and so could you !
