I called DirectTV to report a problem with our service. I was a little frustrated because wed been experiencing interruptions in our service for a couple of weeks. The customer service rep looked up our account, asked me for to relay the error message I saw on the TV screen, and then had me re-set the receiver. It took a few minutes for the settings to reload, so as we were waiting, he asked me about the recent earthquakes in Texas. He told me he was from the Philippines but visited Dallas often. I asked him what the weather was like there. After the service issue was resolved, he asked me if Id like to receive updates via email. I said yes, and I gave him my email address. So its OK if I email you? he asked. And I said, Sure, for billing and service notices, though...not sales stuff. And he said, No, I meant personally. Is it OK if I email you personally? You sound like a nice person to know. Yup, this really happened.
