I came across this quote in my endless hours of researching how to do rescue better. The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but rather, Can they suffer? ~Jeremy Bentham Speak for the animals because they can not speak for themselves. This Made me think so much so about all the misunderstandings that human rescuers bring to the table or create. The perspective is this in my opinion- if you get offended by people who are trying to accomplish the rescue, care, and treatment of animals because they question your policies, motives, experience, etcetera. then you need to find another safer passion to hitch yourself to. Animal rescue is neither, pretty, safe, money making, back slapping, feel good works. But rather it is messy, dirty, ugly, defeating, bank account draining, emotionally toiling, drawn out, dragged out disgusting work because humans and all their baggage is involved. Either pull up your granny panties or tighty whities and rescue with abandonment or go home!
