I came back from Rwanda knowing that I am responsible for telling - TopicsExpress

I came back from Rwanda knowing that I am responsible for telling others what I experienced there. And thats really not very easy. Its actually very, very hard. Its not easy to try to explain what poverty looks like. Its really hard not to overwhelm people with sad stories of hunger and poverty and injustice. Its also not very helpful because Jesus doesnt ask us to pity people. He asks us to DO JUSTICE. So what I want is to communicate to you, my friends, is that we are responsible for ending injustice and that despite how unattainable that feels, its quite possible. I want you to be empowered to do something for one child. Just one. A large part of our trip was visiting the children that each of us sponsors through Africa New Life. It was incredible to see the results of child sponsorship. Children going to school. Children eating. Children learning. Children playing. Children smiling. Children studying. Children breaking the cycle of poverty. Children dreaming. Sponsorship allows you to change the world for one child. And its only $39 a month. Justice can look like sponsorship. Justice can look like providing just one child with school, with food, with opportunity. People, please take two minutes to watch this video. I mean really watch it. It follows the story of two children, one who is sponsored through ANL and one who is not. Then it depicts the actual moment when Grace and her parents were told that she is now sponsored and could begin attending Africa New Life’s school in Bugesera. Her world was changed by one person who said yes. I want you to know that I didnt leave Rwanda feeling really sad and overwhelmed. I left feeling empowered by the hope that is rising up through education and food and opportunity. I left wanting to tell everyone to sponsor a child through Africa New Life, so thats what Im doing. If you cant feed a hundred, feed just one. - Mother Teresa vimeo/40166634
