I came home for lunch yesterday and was talking to Roberta, my next door neighbor, who was outside when I got home. She was waiting on the cable guy. One of her tvs was messed up. While we were talking, our housekeeper, Paula, came outside, which surprised me, since shes usually done and gone by the time I do lunch. The cable guy is in the back yard, and Im waiting to lock the gate behind him. Interesting that the cable guy is here, since weve had Dish Network for ten years. I head out to the back yard, and sure enough, theres a guy pulling cable to the house. I questioned what he was doing there. He looked at the ID badge around my neck, said my name, and then said Roberta. Shes next door, waiting for you I told him. He gathered his things and left. I locked the gate behind him. I coulda had 18 MB/s internet instead of the shockingly-slow 5MB/s internet I currently have with Century Link. I came inside and read a few chapters of the new John Grisham book, which magically arrived on my Kindle Fire several days ago. The End Routine and banal, true. I have roughly 60 facebook friends, most of them who never post a thing. Somebody has to keep it going, and the heavy burden of that task falls squarely upon my shoulders. Later today Ill post about how the dogs barked when the newspaper car drove by at 5:30 this morning. Enjoy. Go do something better than looking at facebook. Ride a bike. Hike. Go see Gravity again. Pet your dogs. Kiss your wife. Kiss your dogs and pet your wife.
