I came to toadys auction with the hopes of helping Alyssa Johnson - TopicsExpress

I came to toadys auction with the hopes of helping Alyssa Johnson in getting the word out and giving people a chance to come and see for themselves that good horses are here at the Lewiston Livestock Auction. I got much more than I bargained for with over 50 horses, some with stories that owners wanted to tell, others who wanted to be left alone, and trailer after trailer with one to six in a load waiting in line to enter into the pens. I didnt come prepared to bid, fund, transport or provide a home for someone to take in sight unseen. As much as I would love to assist someone, it is way too risky for me to undertake. The possiblity of buying someone an unsound or unsafe horse without their presence it to much of a responsibility I do not wish to take on. Today came with more challenges in a phone that overheated and blew up a battery, meeting potential buyers and finding angles that allowed me to take pictures that gave you the audience of horse lovers a chance to see what is going on, and rushing back home to be at my job by 1700. I was impressed with the amount of bidders and the Livestock yard in their willingness to help owners get their stories out and ride horses or walk them gently thru the auction. Many were bought by enthusiastic bidders, but some horses did end up on their way down the road with a kb. Bidding was fast and high, as I will update with the notes I took to go with the individual photos that were taken earlier today. Thanks for all of your questions and encouragement today...it is my hope that others can plan on the last Wednesday of next month to come, take photos and assist us on getting the word out.
