I came upon this delightful little ragamuffin street boy Harvinda - TopicsExpress

I came upon this delightful little ragamuffin street boy Harvinda playing on the Railroad tracks. I knew him a touch from some toys, food and clothing distributions I did to his area before. He ran up and displayed his arm to me- Uncle ! Uncle !. It was broken and bent down horribly just above the wrist, and 2 bones were compounded and sticking out and filthy, infecting. The pain just must have been excrutiating. I asked him when did this happen, and him and the other kids told me 5 days before. I got him to the pediatric ward where they admitted him and told me it would take a series of surgeries from an outside specialist to even attempt to save his hand. They happened in succession for over a month after. Really a delightful boy, but not a very good patient, a bit wild and tribal. Never slept on a bed before. He was restless and always caught roaming throughout the vast hospital complex day and night, and eventually all the departments became known and endeared to curious him. I visited him daily, brought him things to try and content him more, and one day they told me he had gone missing completely, and a janitor found him. He had found the metal fire stairs, and was roaming around up on the Roof ! That was it, now he became famous at the entire medical complex. He made many friends there. We paid all of his expenses until the surgeon specialist that came in became so endeared to this boy, that he absolutely insisted that he himself would pay all his fees. He feverishly put down another Chief surgeon who also wished to be THAT boys angel. Harvindas hand was saved by the Grace of God and some exceptional medical expertise. He has 2 permanent pins and has regained 90% of all normal function. We have him enrolled, and he is a regular student in a local public school now too. Harvinda was quite anxious for discharge, and when the day finally came, I dropped him off right at a crowd of his known street kid friends, who were all so happy to see him. Ill never forget- it was just like dropping a goldfish in the bowl with the all the others. He was instantly integrated, swirling around in his element, back in action, with a whole lot of stories about his adventure to eagerly share with all of his best mates
